International Outreach Team
The International Outreach Team (IOT) plays a key role in preserving authentic culture through art, architecture, events, business, and partnering organizations. Team members represent seven cultural groups: African-American, Latino, Samoan, Somalian, Laotian, Sudanese, and Filipino. Team members encourage cross-cultural learning and understanding by hosting cultural events, supporting Market Creek Plaza merchants, developing resident teams through outreach, and hosting visitors who come to learn about JCNI's work and development of The Village.
The IOT also leads the way in making Market Creek Plaza's Amphitheater and Festival Park the “place-to-be” for multicultural art and entertainment in San Diego. Seven cultural “houses” under the guidance of the IOT provide a venue for sharing the rich traditions and history of each cultural group.
